Here's what I like in this story. Rebekah comes to a point of "Why is this happening to me." then it says she went to the Lord. The response of being overwhelmed in life is to invite God into it with us. God gives her instruction that certainly has impact on choices made later, namely, of your two sons the older will serve the younger.
I like how Isaac solved his problem with work. Instead of a long lament about the Philistines filling in the wells, he just digs them up. Then when all of this finally works out he calls on God and says thanks. It's not a grand story, and yet it is. When simple day to day things go right, let's rejoice.
Some lessons to learn from others failures. Don't trade off what's valuable for a single meal and then resent it later. Don't repeat what your father has taught you when it dishonors God. Don't revise history to try and make yourself look better( 26:29 "we always treated you well when we sent you away) Does filling in our wells(our way of sustaining ourselves) seem peaceful to you??
My prayer for us this day is that we would more and more learn to include God in our lives, going to him in difficulty, praising him for blessing and being content in what is often a simple day gone well. I pray that's yours!!
