2 Kings 15-17 Role Models

December 14th, 2 Kings 15-17

Over the course of the year, I tried to blog about the passage everyday, but I fell short about 20 some times. These passages that seem out of order are my attempt to finish the project!!
There are a list of Kings here in Kings!! Two in particular...Azariah. It was said of him that he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord and according to his father Amaziah. I really appreciate the added line about role modeling. It certainly is rare for the kings to do the right thing, much less have a history of the right things being done. What heritage are we leaving for our children. They still have their own path to choose and that they will. But the characteristics in me they mimic would be best if those characteristics honoered the Lord.
Hoshea was a different story. He did what was evil. It is said of him that he not only did evil, but came up with new ways to do it unlike the other kings. There are always a lot of new ways to mess something up!!
The chapter goes on to express the fall of Israel and the source of the problem. People wanted to be sinners more than they wanted to honor the God who gave them everything. Some things never change.
