I Cor 12-14 One

December 2nd, I Corinthians 12-14

Mr Potato Head: One body, many parts. For us Americans this is as hard a passage as any. We are self-sustained units. John Wayne, Rocky Balboa, Chuck Norris, Arnold Schwarzenegger types who can take on whole armies, countries all by ourselves. We don't need anybody. The military ended it's slogan "An Army of One." Misunderstanding of arrogance(all we need is one) verses a correct understanding of working together as one. Other countries and people groups would not have even thought about the misunderstanding. You and I were uniquely created as God's handiwork. A healthy sense of interdependence would serve us well. So get over yourself and value someone else who is also created in God's image.
After you get a good grasp on that thought we can move to love. If you have everything that the world could offer you and are missing out on love, you are missing out on everything. Ask Scrooge, a great example of missing elements in life. Love is...
patient, kind, doesn't envy, brag to put others in their place, not arrogant, rude, doesn't demand it's own way, it's not irritable(even in the morning), not resentful, doesn't rejoice in wrong, rejoices in the truth, bears all things, believes, hopes, endures in all things, Love doesn't end.
God's love toward you...our love towards others. One team, one family, one body, one heart, one love, one army. The Army had it right, human nature got it wrong. We're in need of each other, loving the least and the strong.
